Good ol' Synchronicity

Pete's Pub!
The foundry.
Little Harbour, home of the world famous Pete's Pub and Gallery, is one of those perfect little places that define the Abacos. It is truly a unique place. In the early 1950's, Randolph Johnston, a teacher and sculptor moved his family to Little Harbour to pursue his sculpting. At that time it was deserted except for the lighthouse keeper and his family. Living in a cave, he built his foundry and continued his work. Randolph has passed away, but his son Pete (a sculptor in his own right) continues the foundry and built the pub, an outdoor beach bar - the best in the Abacos!

I arrived on Valentine's Day, just in time to join Bob and Carol (fiddle and guitar) from Time Enough and Matt (from Sunshine Daydream) in playing Irish music and waltzes (that I learned 15 minutes before we played) . Sight reading Schubert waltzes in a beach bar in the Abacos, well it was a memorable experience for me. Then Matt and I played some Grateful Dead and Buffett. That went over a lot better than the waltzes! Great great day! (They just keep getting better!) Stayed there for a week due to weather - it sure beats Marsh Harbour as a place to be socked in. Great reef, secluded beaches, and blasters - a concoction of fruit juices and 5 kinds of rum! Now I understand the basis of the saying on the Pete's Pub t-shirts: Rehab is for quitters! Ahhh - to quote a good cruiser friend - 'just another goddamn day in paradise...'

Playin' tunes at Pete's.
Another of those beach shelters.
Abandoned lighthouse keepers house.
